On the evening of February 5th, I will be performing music from my 2010 album “The String Theory”, which requires the collaboration of both jazz quartet and string quartet. All music on this performance was composed and/or arranged by me, and spans the gamut of jazz sub-styles - including funk, bossa nova, swing and hip hop. I’m pleased to be joined by pianist Dr. Ben Markley (jazz studies, University of Wyoming) and drummer Ryan Hayden (Julliard MM grad from NYC), both of whom appeared on the original recording with me. I’m also very pleased to combine forces with the newly-formed Des Moines string quartet “Quartet 515” for the performance. In addition to my original compositions, concert repertoire will include my arrangements of songs from the likes of Georges Bizet, John Coltrane, Billy Strayhorn, and Gabriel Faure. I hope that the performance will prove to be an evening of fun, enjoyable and atypical jazz music that is well worth the time to attend.
